Derek Entenmann / UberDerek
Derek Entenmann is an American-born artist and tattooer based between Salzburg, Austria and Berchtesgaden, Germany.
Known internationally as UberDerek, he has built a multidisciplinary practice spanning tattooing, painting, sculpture, print, apparel and other art objects.
Since beginning his professional tattoo career in 2008, Derek has worked throughout Europe and the United States, creating large-scale custom tattoos, exhibiting artwork and developing a visual language rooted in movement, expressive drawing, architecture and the passage of time.
His approach grew from years of combining sketch-based linework, watercolor influences and fractured structural forms. What began on skin later expanded naturally into paintings, sculptural pieces and mixed-media objects.
Derek's work has received Best of Show at the DC Tattoo Expo, multiple Best of Day awards and First Place New School at the Stockholm Tattoo Festival. His career has also included international convention work and a residency aboard Virgin Voyages as an artist with Squid Ink.
He is the founder of Hive Tattoo Studio in Salzburg and Hive Art Gallery in Berchtesgaden. Together, these spaces allow tattooing, fine art, retail objects, exhibitions and personal artistic projects to exist within one connected practice.
Derek does not separate art into strict categories. A tattoo, painting, sculpture or printed object can begin with the same drawing, the same visual tension or the same question.
