Start with something real

Bring the beginning of an idea.

You do not need to arrive with a finished tattoo design.

Bring a photograph. Architecture. A texture. A memory. A symbol. A fragment of history. A painting. A piece of machinery. Something you found in Berlin. Something that refuses to leave your head.

I use those fragments as raw material and develop an original composition around the body, the person and the energy of the idea.

References begin the conversation. They do not dictate the finished tattoo.

Why Berlin
Berlin was rebuilt, repainted and reinvented more than once. The most interesting parts are where old structure and new energy collide. That tension feels very close to the way I make tattoos.

The artist

Abstract, watercolor and geometric tattooing.

Derek Entenmann, known internationally as UberDerek, is an American-born tattoo artist and visual artist based in Salzburg, Austria, working throughout Europe and the United States.

His work combines abstract movement, painterly watercolor gestures, geometric structure, sketchwork, blackwork, fragmentation and fine-art influences.

Rather than reproducing an existing tattoo, each project is built as an individual composition around the person and the anatomy it will live on.

Berlin Project Selection

What I want to create.

01

Abstract Tattoos

Movement, texture, negative space, fragmentation and compositions that resist the obvious answer.

02

Watercolor + Painterly

Color movement, brush-like marks and expressive gestures held together by deliberate structure.

03

Geometric Tattoos

Geometry used as architecture inside the tattoo, often colliding with painterly or organic forms.

04

Bold One-Day Pieces

Strong original concepts designed around a full convention session.

05

Large-Scale Projects

Sleeves, backs and larger compositions that can begin in Berlin and continue later.

06

Unexpected References

Architecture, ruins, old drawings, machines, street textures, historical fragments and non-tattoo source material.

Think Bigger

Berlin can be the first chapter.

A convention appointment does not have to mean a small convention tattoo.

Sleeves, back pieces and other multi-session projects can begin in Berlin and continue later at Hive Tattoo Studio in Salzburg, during another European travel date or at a future U.S. session.

Large pieces are planned as complete compositions so the work grows intentionally with the body rather than becoming a pile of disconnected images.

Process

Idea to skin.

01

Send the idea

Tell me the concept, placement, approximate size and why the idea matters to you.

02

I review it

I personally review the project and whether it fits the work I want to create during the Berlin weekend.

03

Build the direction

If it is a good fit, we discuss artistic direction, scale, placement and session requirements.

04

Reserve the appointment

Once the project and date are agreed on, a deposit secures the convention appointment.

05

Create it in Berlin

The final tattoo is developed specifically for you rather than copied from an existing tattoo.

Come to Berlin for More Than Just Another Weekend

Berlin is one of those places where art, music, architecture, history and raw street energy all exist on top of each other.

Spend a few days inside that atmosphere and create a tattoo that becomes part of the experience. Not a souvenir. A serious piece of artwork connected to a particular city, a particular weekend and a moment in your life.

Come with an idea. Leave Berlin carrying something that could only have happened there.
